Djilas accuses US Ambassador of supporting Vucic
Opposition Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) leader Dragan Djilas accused US Ambassador Christopher Hill of supporting “the organized crime group that is holding Serbia captive”.
“In December Hill kept quiet about election fraud, pressure on voters, the huge number of voters with false residence registration. He said he looks forward to continuing cooperation with (Serbian President) Aleksandar Vucic and told the opposition to give up the fight and stay home. He spent the next few months convincing part of the opposition to stand in the fraudulent in advance elections in Belgrade,” a statement said.
Djilas said that the ambassador said the views of the ODIHR observer mission are not important despite reports of irregularities. “He didn’t mention the fact that 210,000 fewer voters turned out for the Belgrade elections than in December, that 3 of the 4 biggest opposition parties did not stand and the none of the key ODIHR recommendations were implemented,” Djilas said.
Djilas said Hill was shameless in saying that there were fewer problems than at the mid-December elections. “He didn’t her the anti-European and anti-American statements by Vucic,” he added.
The SSP leader said that Hill did not notice Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik voting at the Belgrade local elections even though he lives in the Bosnian town of Laktasi.
According to Djilas, Hill can’t vote in Serbia but “his sure vote, whenever he speaks up, is worth a lot to Vucic”.
