The opposition Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) sent the Serbian state TV (RTS) its analysis of the RTS prime-time news broadcast, Dnevnik 2, in which there was no mention of the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) session and debate on Serbian elections held Monday, and described this as scandalous.

The letter, signed by SSP leader Dragan Djilas, was sent to RTS CEO Dragan Bujosevic, editor-in-chief Nenad Stefanovic, and Dnevnik 2 editors, and said that these people are directly responsible for lying to and misinforming the Serbian citizens.

It said that on Monday, when the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe discussed the Serbian elections, the RTS failed to report that head of the Council of Europe (CoE) election observation mission Stefan Schennach submitted to the PACE a report on the Serbian elections, and it did not cover the debate.

It was further said that the RTS also did not report on the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) meeting which addressed the situation in Serbia following the recently held elections. Instead, the Serbian public broadcaster only carried European Parliament Standing Rapporteur for Serbia Vladimir Bilcik’s statement.

The RTS also failed to report on the MEPs’ positions expressed at the debate, and on European External Action Service Director Marko Makovec’s statement that the European Commission is in favor of an international investigation into the Serbian elections, said the SSP.
