Dr Andrej Sostaric said that sand is polluting the air in the Serbian capital adding that this was why the sun was not visible all day. He said winds brought the sand across the Mediterranean to Europe.
“We didn’t get conventional rain clouds but we did not see the sun because of the Sahara sands that prevented the sun’s rays from breaking through.
He said rain could clear the sand from the clouds.
