The engagement of Andrej Vucic, the brother of Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic, in party activities will have to seriously shake the ranks of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and could also increase the turnout in the part of the electorate that does not support the SNS, as well as the number of votes against the party, media and communications expert Igor Avzner told N1.

He stated that SNS will have to measure whether the appearance of Andrej Vucic in the campaign will have a greater marketing effect on one side or the other.

"The time of fear among the SNS electorate has pretty much passed. For a part of the progressives, the appearance of the brother of the President of Serbia will have an effect within the organization itself, but there are great chances that it will attract many more points for voters who are not for the Serbian Progressive Party", Avnzner said.

The brother of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and a member of the Executive Committee of the Serbian Progressive Party visited the party committee of progressives in the Belgrade municipality of Vozdovac in early October, which was interpreted by the public as an announcement of Andrej Vucic's active participation in the SNS election campaign.

Andrej Vucic also participated even at the lowest level of the election, so on the eve of the elections for local community councils in Novi Sad in 2021, he visited the polling stations together with the then mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic. Photos of Vucevic and the younger of the two most powerful brothers in Serbia posing with SNS members appeared on social networks.

DS: The election headquarters in Novi Sad was personally led by Andrej Vucic

Six years earlier, the Novi Sad committee of the Democratic Party claimed that the Serbian Progressive Party in that city "formed its election headquarters for provincial and local elections, led by Andrej Vucic himself", who, according to the information the Democrats received from the local SNS, had already provided his people with work and living space in Novi Sad.

After that, the City Committee of the SNS in Novi Sad reacted, claiming that Andrej Vucic "never sought a position either in the SNS or in the executive branch".
"Andrej Vucic is not a member of the City Committee of the Serbian Progressive Party of Novi Sad, nor is he a member of the Council for Vojvodina, nor is he the head of the Election Staff for Novi Sad and Vojvodina, as the hypocritical democrats claim, but a proud member of the SNS, and thus he has the right to attend party meetings and events", the Novi Sad SNS stated in 2015.

The role of the younger son of Andjelko and Angelina Vucic was described in 2016 by the then member of the SNS Presidency and the Minister of Police, Nebojsa Stefanovic, who stated that Andrej Vucic, in his spare time, helps local party committees in the organization.

The reason for Stefanovic's reaction was the statement of the Democratic Party of Serbia which claimed that Andrej Vucic behaves like a political commissar and that he treats Serbia as private property, and as evidence they cited the events in Prijepolje, Priboj and Sjenica when the brother of Aleksandar Vucic “reviewed” the members of the Serbian Progressive Party and local government officials.

The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) wrote about Andrej Vucic's participation in the election campaign of the Serbian Progressive Party in 2014, citing as evidence a joint photo of Andrej Vucic and Zvonk Veselinovic, which BIRN claimed was taken by an advertising agency hired by SNS during the campaign for the elections in March of that year.
