Twenty-four newly appointed Serbian public prosecutors took the oath of office before Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic, Supreme Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac and High Judicial Council members on Monday, Tanjug reported.
At a ceremony held in the Serbian Parliament building, Dolovac said the prosecutors’ future work would represent a significant boost to the capacities of the Supreme Public Prosecutor’s Office and the national judicial system.
“In the present times, when we face new challenges in criminal law, lawful, professional, expert, efficient and responsible work of public prosecutors in the defense of the interests of society is extremely important,” Tanjug quoted Dolovac as saying.
She advised the newly elected prosecutors to act in line with the Constitution and law, as this is the only way they will be able to meet the challenges ahead and justify the trust placed in them through this appointment.
Dolovac noted that a total of 110 prosecutors had been appointed to office for the first time in December and January.
