A huge crowd took part in the Don’t Lower Tensions protest in the southern Serbian city of Nis on Friday.
The crowd of thousands of students, teachers and their supporters started their protest march with a gathering in front of the city’s Basic Court and ended in front of the schools administration building. The crowd blew whistles, carried banners and chanted Pump, Pump which has become customary at protests.
The protest was called by university students as a show of support to teachers who have not been paid the first half of the their February salaries because they were on strike is support of the students.
The crowd observed the 15 Minutes of Silence memorial for the victims of the Novi Sad Railway Station tragedy.
