Milo Djukanovic, Montenegrin President, said on Thursday he appointed Dritan Abazovic, the leader of the URA Civil Movement, and Deputy Prime Minister, as premier-designate.
The two met earlier in the day after Djukanovic ended consultations with parliamentary parties on Monday.
“The representatives of URA and their political partners convinced me they have a majority in the Parliament to form the 43rd Government of Montenegro. Therefore, I gave a mandate to Abazovic, the URA’s leader,” Djukanovic said in a statement.
Montenegro, therefore, avoided an early general vote after the coalition which dethroned Djukanovic Social-democrats in August 2020 after three decades in power broke up last September.
