Driver of main defendant in Jovanjica case arrested, suspected of heroin trade

Among the seven arrested was Milos Tofilovic, the driver of Predrag Koluvija, the main defendant in the so-called Jovanjica case, the largest marijuana plant in Europe.

Tofilovic drove Koluvija when the police stopped the car for a traffic violation and arrested Koluvija in November 2019.

However, Tofilovic was not apprehended before July last year, when the police arrested Serbia’s secret service and the police members suspected of working as Koluvija’s security.

Tofilovic was released from detention in September 2020.

The group arrested on Tuesday is suspected of smuggling heroin from Turkey in 2020 and 2021. The dug was then sold in Bulgaria, the US and Serbia.

“This suggests he (Tofilovic) has had contacts with narco bosses for a long time since it is hard to believe that a man who was unemployed, so to say, after the arrest in Jovanjica case could so soon become a part of a new group,” nova.rs website editor Ivan Milicevic said.

The editor of the investigative KRIK network Stevan Dojcinovic, who published still unconfirmed Jovanjica 2 indictment, said it often mentioned Tofilovic.

“The charge sheet describes him also as the drug driver for the group. According to the indictment, Koluvija used him to ring money to people from his security system. It was recorded that he (Tofilovic) once went to the office of a state security service agent and paid him there,” Dojcinvic said.

It is still unknown if anything besides the driver Tofilovic links Koluvija to the group arrested for heroin trade.

The police identified Tofilovic’s new boss as 40-year-old Serbia’s national with Z.M. initials.

He was arrested at the same time as the group of seven but in Bulgaria.
