DZVM: Vicsek officially MEP from Hungary, but actually a lobbyist for Vucic government

“Using her position in the European Parliament, she defended (Serbian President) Aleksandar Vucic’s authoritarian regime while at the same time attacking students, civil protests, and university blockades in Serbia.

“Vicsek has openly become a spokesperson for the Belgrade government, thereby setting her political activities against the democratic values and principles of the European Union,” DZVM assessed.

They believe that this is a classic conflict of interest, as Vicsek is formally an MEP from Hungary, but is actually acting as a lobbyist for Vucic’s government in Brussels, they claim.

DZVM called on the public to recognize this dual role, which harms the Vojvodina Hungarian community, the minority party said in its statement, noting that the Democratic Community of Vojvodina Hungarians will continue to firmly defend the interests of the Hungarian community, as well as the rights of citizens, students, and a free society.
