EC spox: EU concerned over expulsions

We are concerned over reports that the Serbian authorities ordered EU citizens out of the country for allegedly posing a security risk, Mercier said.

He said measures to protect national security must be in line with Serbian law as well as EU and international human rights standards and should not limit the freedom of movement of any individual including foreign nationals.

Mercier said the EU could start monitoring the situation in Serbia in the context of respect for rule of law and basic rights.
