ECHR demands Serbia's Govt answers about endangering activists rights

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg demanded Serbia's Government answers about endangering the safety of Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIRH) activists following the banned rally planned to remove a mural of war criminal Ratko Mladic from central Belgrade on November 9, the Initiative said on Thursday.
The Government is obliged to provide reasoned answers within seven days.
According to the YIHR, after the institutions did not react to threats and violence, its activists turned to the European Court.
The questions the Government must answer by December 15 are, among others, what steps were taken after the threat of violence, what actions were taken after the attack on the Initiative's office, whether the perpetrators were identified, if any procedures were launched?
The YIHR said the Government, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Prosecutor's Office had not reacted so far.
The YIHR said the Interior Ministry refused to provide them information about the handling of threats and attacks and instructed activists to contact the Initiative as "interested citizens" and to request access to information of public importance. That request also remained unanswered.
