Ecological Uprising leader Aleksandar “Cuta” Jovanovic called for a unified front with a clear strategy to tackle Rio Tinto.
“I’m calling on everyone who truly wants to remove this evil from our house and drive out the pests from Serbia to come together—perhaps in Gornje Nedeljice—to hold a meeting and form a unified front with a clear plan on how to move forward in our fight against Rio Tinto,” Jovanovic told an interview with the Danas daily.
He stressed the importance of presenting this plan to the public to show that it is possible to achieve unity around a common cause.
“I lamented and begged the opposition to stay united, but that hasn’t happened. When it comes to Rio Tinto, I won’t tolerate any divisions. Anyone who thinks they can divide us on this will find an enemy in me,” said Jovanovic.
Regarding the recent detainment of Ecological Uprising activists from the towns of Vranje and Vrbas, who were accused of “undermining the constitutional order,” Jovanovic described it as an attempt to intimidate those fighting for their country and for the people of Gornje Nedeljice.
