The Ecological Uprising organization sent an open letter to Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) Chief of Staff, demanding that General Milan Mojsilovic break his silence and clearly state his position on the Serbian Government’s plan for hotels and casinos to be built at the site of the complex of the former Federal Secretariat for National Defense, the so-called Old General Staff building.
The demolition of the Old General Staff is the demolition of the state, said the organization.
“It is up to the Chief of Staff and his officers to decide whether they will be accomplices in an act of treason, and we remind them of the oath that they took: I _____ solemnly swear by my honor to uphold and defend the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia,” reads the Ecological Uprising open letter.
The Serbian Government said last week that Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic signed on May 15, on its behalf, an “Agreement on Revitalization of the Complex of the Former Federal Secretariat for National Defense,” the so-called General Staff building in central Belgrade, with the American company Affinity Global Development. This investment company is owned by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump.
