Professor Jelena Kleut was denied full tenure by the Novi Sad University Senate which meant that she lost her job at the university School of Philosophy. Her dismissal resulted in protests and allegations that she lost her job because of her support for the student protests over the past year.

The minister told the pro-regime TV Pink that her case was “misused by media and politically”, adding that the government has nothing to do with the loss of her job. He said the government is founder and main financial backer of universities but has only a symbolic role in decision making.

The Novi Sad University School of Philosophy filed an urgent request with the city Administrative Court for a temporary measure that would give Kleut her job back at least until her law suits against the university are decided.
