Serbian Education Minister Slavica Djukic Dejanovic said that the rule stipulating that a majority of parents of students in a class can lodge complaints against educators will be reviewed.

The working group tasked with drafting a rulebook on evaluation in elementary schools, which comprises Ministry representatives, heads of schools, education union representatives, will once again review this rule, Djukic Dejanovic told the daily Politika, adding that the opinions of schools will also be taken into account.

All this will help us get an overview of whether this measure is justified and what it aims to achieve, but the most important thing is for the decision that is to be made to be in the best interest of the students and employees, said the Minister.

The daily noted that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic earlier presented his clear position that it is not the parents’ job to run schools and that trust must be placed in the educators, and asked the relevant authorities to reconsider their position and possibly explain to him why he is in the wrong.
