Notifications regarding alleged explosive devices on their premises were emailed to 17 elementary schools in Belgrade’s municipalities of Zemun and Vozdovac, and the threats have been checked by the police and proven false, the Serbian Education Ministry told the Tanjug news agency.

“In order to ensure the safety of the students and employees, classes in the first shift were suspended until the police investigation was completed, following which the children were returned to classes in most of these schools. Classes in the second shift will be held in accordance with the standard schedule,” said the Ministry of Education.

It added that the schools will inform the students and their parents, through regular communication channels, about all relevant information related to the holding of classes.
