EEAS: Serbia again fails to align with four EU decisions
Serbia has once again failed to align with four decisions adopted by the European Union (EU) regarding the extension of sanctions against Russia over the war in Ukraine and the introduction of a new criterion for sanctioning individuals from Belarus, the European External Action Service (EEAS) posted on its website on Wednesday.
Serbia did not align with the decision to prolong restrictive measures against Russia for an additional six months, until July 31, 2026, nor with the addition of two individuals to the sanctions list.
That EU decision was supported by Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, and Ukraine.
Serbia also failed to align with restrictive measures adding 41 vessels - specifically oil tankers that are part of the “shadow fleet” - to the sanctions list.
Regarding Belarus, the EU introduced an additional criterion for the listing of natural or legal persons, entities or bodies responsible for, implementing, supporting, benefiting from, involved in or facilitating actions or policies which undermine or threaten democracy, the rule of law, stability or security, in the EU or in one or several of its Member States, in an international organization or in a third country.
