Justice Minister Maja Popovic strongly condemned the burning of the Vucic effigy and stated that she expects official Zagreb to condemn the act.
„I expect that the relevant authorities in Croatia will respond, and that official Zagreb will at least condemn this act. Such incidents cannot contribute to good neighborly relations, but can only further stoke tensions in the region,“ she said, as stated by her office.
Minister Popovic emphasized that Serbia is committed to peace and stability in the entire region, and that the president and the government always advocate for this.
Foreign Minister Marko Djuric also reacted, strongly condemning the act. He said he expects Croatian authorities to immediately and unequivocally condemn the act and take concrete steps to identify and punish those responsible in accordance with the law.
He called the act shameful and provocative, adding that such actions reflect a pathological hatred towards Serbia and its citizens.
Minister without portfolio in charge of relations with the diaspora, Djordje Milicevic, highlighted that this event is not isolated, but a testament to the anti-Serb hysteria being fueled in Croatia.
„This is a vile act of hatred, deeply rooted in those who cannot tolerate a strong, sovereign, and successful Serbia. This disgraceful event is not an isolated incident, but another proof of the anti-Serb hysteria that is systematically encouraged in certain circles in Croatia,“ he said.
