Protesters in the western Serbian city of Valjevo pelted eggs at the offices of the Euro Lithium Balkan company on Tuesday. Pročitaj više

The protest, titled Cleaning Up Our Backyard, was organized by the Valjevo Resistance Movement (Pokret Otpora) to demand the eviction of the company from the city and a ban on the exploitation of lithium and borite.

Spokespeople for the organizers said that there would be no more marches or speeches, adding that it’s time to act.

The Euro Lithium Balkan company has two ongoing geological exploration projects in the Valjevo area. A local N1 reporter said that the Mining and Energy Ministry refused to extend the company’s exploration permit.
