Painter Dragana Milisavljevic (82) was evicted from her apartment in Cvijiceva street in Belgrade on Friday with only one bag with personal belongings and her cat, while another one probably stayed in the apartment. She spent the night at a friend's house and said she will not give up the fight for her home.

On Friday, with the assistance of the police, officials evicted the painter and restorer from her apartment at Cvijiceva 79, and the lock was changed so that this elderly woman from Belgrade was forced to look for accommodation elsewhere.

She says that she will fight for her apartment, in which she invested everything she had - money from the sale of the family house in Jagodina and commercial and residential space in New Belgrade.

Milisavljevic told N1 that she has been facing a difficult situation for 13 years and that she asked for help from anyone she could. She said she is facing this problem now despite the fact that she bought the apartment legally through an agency.

Milena Repojevic from the organisation ‘Krov nad glavom’ said the executors have the right to evict and that it was reported to the police and veterinarian authorities because of the animals. However, she added that in this case, it is terrible that such an elderly woman is being evicted and that it could cause her a lot of stress and damage her health.

Repojevic said the legal battle is not over and that there is still a possibility for the elderly woman to return to her apartment, but added that everything is much more difficult now that she has been evicted because she has to continue this battle from the street.
