Electronic media watchdog calls for black screen commemoration

The Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) called electronic media to stop airing their programming for one minute on those dates and show a black screen with the words May 3-4 2023. We Remember. It said screens should be blacked out at 8.41 am on May 3 and at 10.32 pm on May 4.

School children and young people were gunned down in two separate armed incidents first at the Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school in Belgrade and later in the villages of Dubona and Malo Orasje outside Mladenovac in May 2023.

The press release said that the REM Council decision is in support of a proposal by a working group setting up a memorial for the victims at the Ribnikar school to raise society’s awareness of the extent of the tragedy.
