Vandals have again tried to destroy the mural of the great Ukrainian poet Larysa Petrivna Kosach, also know as Lesya Ukrainka, said the Ukrainian Embassy to Belgrade.

It said that the mural, located in downtown Belgrade, was painted by the representatives of the Serbian civil society, without the Embassy’s help.

The vandals deliberately drew over the portrait of a great woman, who called for love all her life, the symbol of Russia’s aggression and national hatred, the letter ‘Z,’ said the Embassy.

The message of support for murderers from the Russian Federation who are killing Ukrainian children and civilians, raping women and destroying Ukrainian cities and villages is despicable and completely clear, the Embassy stressed.

It called on Serbia to identify and bring to justice “the persons who organized and carried out this heinous action aimed at inciting enmity and supporting mass murders.”

The Embassy said it once again calls on the Serbian authorities “to stop tolerating the symbol of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the letter ‘Z,’ on the streets of Belgrade and to ban the sale of items with this symbol.
