Energy Minister: Safe supply of oil and derivatives secured

Safe supply of the local market with oil derivatives and sufficient quantities of crude oil needed for the Pancevo Oil Refinery’s smooth operation are the most important for the Government and relevant ministry, Serbia’s Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic told a meeting with Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) Board of Directors chairman Kirill Tyurdenev.

Unhindered supply of all types of crude oil available on the free market has been secured for after December 5, when the eight package of European Union (EU) sanctions on the Russian Federation comes into force, said Djedovic, adding this will maintain the security of supply to the Pancevo Oil Refinery.
The Ministry quoted Djedovic as saying that “a significant quantity of crude oil” that Serbia imports “is not from the territories of countries under sanctions.”
“The most important thing is that, regardless of the energy crisis that the whole of Europe is struggling with, the citizens can count on an uninterrupted supply of all oil derivatives,” said Djedovic.
Tyurdenev said that NIS, “as a socially responsible company, fully understands the priorities and the unforeseeable circumstances the oil industry is currently in on a global level.”
Thanks to timely planning, NIS has secured sufficient quantities of crude oil for the Pancevo Refinery for after December 5 as well, said Tyurdenev, adding that the Refinery will continue to operate at maximum capacity and that there will be enough crude oil and oil derivatives.
