Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic said that “despite the eight percent increase in January, the price of electricity is still among the lowest in Europe, and the same goes for the price of natural gas for households,” but that “the situation in the market changes on a daily basis.”

“You realize that our state is subsidizing, but we don’t have a pot of gold. We will really fight so that, even if there are price increases, they will be minimal, as is now the case,” Djedovic said in an interview with the daily Politika.

The Minister said she was concerned about the way in which work is carried out in the Kolubara mines, noting that she is not satisfied because coal production is lower than it should be.

She said the most important thing is that the electricity supply is not threatened.

“Regarding new investments, they have to be prepared fast and the Serbian power company (EPS) needs to be much more efficient in their realization,” said Minister Djedovic.
