Escobar: Serbia should implement ODIHR recommendations

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Gabriel Escobar said on Friday that Washington would view the next Serbian government as legitimate as long as it implements ODIHR recommendations before any future elections.

He told the Voice of America that the US administration would work with the next Serbian government as long as the country’s institutions investigate the reported irregularities at the December 17 elections.

Escobar said that the Serbian government is expected to strengthen democratic institutions, continue the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and its European integration process.
