EU deploying observers to Kosovo elections

A press release said that “High Representative Kaja Kallas has decided to deploy an EU Election Observation Mission (EOM) to observe the parliamentary elections scheduled for 9 February 2025” adding that she Nathalie Loiseau MEP as Chief Observer.

It said that observers are being deployed at the request of the authorities in Pristina and will demonstrate European Union support for efforts to strengthen democratic governance in Kosovo. “The mission’s presence on the ground is aimed at contributing to an inclusive, credible and transparent election process allowing Kosovo voters to clearly express their choices,” it said.

The press release quoted Loiseau as recalling that the the elections will be the first held under a new election law which has taken into consideration EU recommendations.
