European Commission spokesman Peter Stano denied on Friday that the license plates agreement reached by Belgrade and Pristina expires at midnight.

The Belgrade-Pristina agreement of November 23 has no final deadline or expiration date, Stano told N1. That agreement was reached to end the dispute over license plates issued by the Serbian authorities which the Kosovo Serbs continue to use.

Stano recalled that European Union Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak invited the two sides’ chief negotiators to Brussels to discuss the implementation of the agreement reached in Brussels on February 27 and implementation annex agreed in Ohrid on March 18.

He said that the EU expects both sides to continue contributing to the atmosphere of normalization and reconciliation and the speedy implementation of accepted obligations. Stano recalled that both sides agreed to refrain from activities which would run counter to the agreement.
