EU Spokesperson says NATO decides on KFOR posture
A European Union spokesperson said that the posture of the NATO mission in Kosovo is for NATO to decide and confirmed that the Alliance informed the EU about the changes on the bridge across the Ibar river in Mitrovica.
“The EU’s position on the bridge has always been clear and guided by the need to ensure that it serves all communities and the municipalities it connects, and contributes to cooperation and good relations between them,” the spokesperson added in a written reply.
“As part of the three-tiered Kosovo security responder mechanism, the EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) has been duly informed by KFOR of the gradual transition of its permanent presence. The Mission will continue its close cooperation with the Kosovo Police and KFOR to ensure adequate security for all communities across Kosovo, in line with its mandate,” the spokesperson said.
