European Democrats: Europe must speak up loudly and clearly, Serbian people deserve democracy

“When students and citizens demand free elections and justice, a democratic leader listens. (Serbian President) Aleksandar Vucic sends in tear gas, handcuffs journalists, and insults protesters as ‘scum,’” the party said in a post on X.

The European Democrats emphasized that Serbian people “deserve democracy, not dictatorship in disguise,” as well as that “a country that violently silences students, professors, and journalists cannot claim to be on a European path.”

“We stand with those in Serbia who are fighting for truth, freedom of expression, and the rule of law. Europe must speak up – loudly and clearly,” urged the European Democrats.
