Farmers stepped up their protests by blocking 42 major roads across Serbia on Tuesday, expressing anger and dissatisfaction with the way the Agriculture Ministry has been dealing with their demands.
The farmers have been protesting by blocking roads, spilling milk and doing other things for the past 2 weeks and have made a number of demands to the ministry who they blame for their problems. The demands were discussed at meetings with Agriculture Minister Dragan Glamocic who the farmers said did not take them seriously and claimed even made some offensive remarks.
Glamocic also accused them of dabling in politics and said he would not be pressured into making decisions. He told a news conference that the protesting farmers refused to meet him but added that his invitation remains in place.
Some of the protesting farmers reported being threatened by people from the ruling SNS.
