Farmers continue road block protests

The farmers blocked the Kovin-Bavaniste-Pancevo road with more than 50 tractors, continuing their protest with demands for subsidies and lower diesel fuel prices. The farmers are blocking an approach road to Novi Sad and the highway at Kac.

Last week, the farmers blocked the Pancevo refinery and staged protest drives on road leading into the city of Novi Sad creating traffic jams on the road to Zrenjanin. They also blocked a major crossroads and approaches to the Subotica-Belgrade highway for hours.

The first day of protests ended with a stand-off between farmers and local ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) officials and supporters in front of the home of a protest organizer.
