Serbian farmers signed an agreement with the government meeting some of their demands following five days of road block protests.

The agreement was signed by two farmers on behalf of eight farmers’ association and took effect immediately. Under the agreement, the subsidies will be raised by 9,000 Dinars (1 Euro – 117 Dinars) which means they will get 18,000 Dinars for up to 20 hectares of farm land per household. The maximum of farm land eligible for subsidies will be raised from 20 to 100 hectares as of January 1, 2024 and milk premiums will be raised from 15 to 19 Dinars a liter with subsidies for cows raised from 30,000 to 40,000 Dinars.

The farmers also won a review of the control of milk and milk product imports as well as quotas for dairy farmers to precede imports. The agreement calls for a solution for farmers who lost their milk sales to dairies.

The agreement also lowers duties on diesel fuel.
