Zoran Milicevic, Chairman of the board of the SPAS farmers association, sent a letter to Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic telling her that farmers would block roads in Belgrade unless they receive the subsidy payments of 17,000 Dinars (1 Euro – 117 Dinars) for seed as promised them in 2023.
The letter said that “this is the end of honest relations, honest hope, honest agreements” and warned of an uprising by farmers who are second-rate citizens. It said the farmers were determined to end their troubles.
The head of the Stig farmers’ association said earlier that a gathering has been registered with the police for Friday, July 19 by seven farmers’ organizations to protest the fact that promises made to them have not been fulfilled.
