“Find Me” child abduction alert system launched in Serbia

The “Find Me” emergency system for alerting the public about the disappearance of a minor was put into operation on Wednesday.
The official launch was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Internal Affairs Minister Bratislav Gasic, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic and US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill.
Igor Juric, the founder of the Centre for Missing and Abused Children, said Serbia is the first country in the region to introduce this system, which is modeled after Amber Alert.
“I can proudly say that this is the first such system in the region. No country has a system of this kind, and won’t for a while longer. People are impressed. My team is the only one that can comment on this, on what it went through, who we pulled by the sleeve to make all this happen. President Vucic supported our work and deserves the most credit for what we have done,” said Juric, stressing that children have to be a priority.
Ambassador Hill said this is a system in which everyone works together.
This is a program that requires both people and technology, but above all the will to work on something together, said Hill, adding that he is proud to represent the US Embassy because it was able to initiate the project and participate in it.
