Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said that next year’s budget is developmental and includes higher salaries for the public sector and pensions.
Mali told the pro-regime TV Pink that the plan is to increase public sector salaries by 8 percent and education system salaries by 11 percent. He added that the minimum wage will be raised by 13.7 percent. According to him, pensions will be raised by almost 11 percent as of December, 2024. He said the government wants pension raises to start on December 1 not in January as was the case
The minister said the average salary in Serbia in August was 825 Euro, expecting to rise to 900 Euro in December. He said the average salary is expected to rise to 1,000 Euro in December next year and to 1,400 Euro in 2027. “The minimum wage will rise to 457 Euro …. The average pension will be 436 Euro,” Mali said.
He said the military budget is the largest to date with 7.5 percent of the budget earmarked for agriculture.
