The debt level was slightly lower than at the end of May, when Serbia’s public debt amounted to 38.77 billion Euro, or 44% of GDP, according to ministry data.

The Finance Ministry said Serbia’s debt ratio remained well below the 60% threshold set by the European Union’s Maastricht criteria.

Serbia’s public debt stood at 38.9 billion Euro, or 47.2% of GDP, at the end of 2024, according to official figures.

The government has said maintaining fiscal stability and keeping public debt under control remain key priorities as it continues to finance infrastructure projects and other public investments.
