FinMin says Serbian government to raise minimum wage
Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Thursday that the government is set to raise the minimum wage by 17.8 percent next year.
He told a news conference that the government will adopt a decision to raise the minimum monthly wage to 47,154 Dinars (1 Euro – 117 Dinars).
Speaking after a meeting of the Socio- Economic Council, Mali said that the minimum hourly wage will be increased from 230 to 271 Dinars.
Mali claimed that the increase was the highest ever. “In terms of percentages, it is the largest increase in the minimum wage so far and in Euro it amounts to around €401. For the first time, we are going to the minimum wage level above €400. That minimum wage will be applied from 1 January of the following year,” he said.
Mali said the government increased the minimum wage by 14.3 percent this year, and added that the average inflation this year will be 12.5 percent.
The Finance Minister said that the non-taxable income will increase from the current 21,712 Dinars to 25,000 Dinars.
