Fire breaks out at Serbian Pavilion at Venice Biennale

The blaze has been extinguished, while firefighters remain on-site to secure the area and douse any remaining hotspots.

Footage shared on social media showed thick black smoke over the city, while strong winds reportedly exacerbated the situation.

The President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, posted a video of the incident on Facebook. “A fire broke out today at the Serbian Pavilion in the Biennale Gardens in Venice during renovation work. A thick cloud of smoke is visible from a distance, but emergency teams intervened quickly to contain the flames,” he wrote.
