Heavy rains caused a landslide on the R 7 motorway 'Ibrahim Rugova' in Kosovo, and the police announced the evacuation of the population in the municipality of Djakovica in the south-west.

The Autostrada’ Ibrahim Rugova,’ opened in 2011, is the longest motorway, running 129.8 kilometres.

The rainfall caused floods in Glogovac and Malisevo.

Djakovica was most severely hit, with the town’s entrances and a large number of houses flooded.

The river Mirusa in the Malisevo municipality overflowed from its bed on Thursday night, but the situation was reported as still under control.

Pristina media report that „some bridges are also underwater, and the most problematic road for traffic is Malisevo-Kyiv,“ the municipality said in a statement.

Houses and agricultural lands in Drenovica region were flooded, closing down all services since early Friday.

The Minister of Infrastructure, Arban Abrashi, said the roads in those parts of Kosovo were passable as well as the motorway.
