Foreign Minister Marko Djuric said on Friday that Serbia signed the letter of support for UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres after Israel declared him persona non grata, denying a media report to the contrary.

Speaking to reporters with his Slovak counterpart Juraj Blanar, Djuric denied media reports that official Belgrade did not sign the letter. “Serbia signed the letter of support for Guterres but Serbia will also not allow the media to say when something should be published. It was also not true that we didn’t condemn the Israeli attacks on UNIFIL positions where our troops were deployed,” he said.

Earlier, the Beta news agency said that Serbia was not among the 105 countries that signed the letter in which they expressed “deep concern with and condemnation of the recent statement from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel declaring the Secretary-General persona non grata”.
