Serbian embassies in two major European capitals received threats of terrorist attacks in the past 24 hours, stated Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Marko Djuric.
He noted that according to preliminary information, the threats come from extreme separatist circles within the diaspora from Kosovo and Metohija, specifically from individuals of Albanian nationality. (Kosovo and Metohija is the official name for what the Serbian authorities consider to be the country’s southern province)
Speaking to the pro-government Pink TV, Djuric said, "We're working with European security agencies to prevent and neutralize these threats. I bring this up because for years now, certain elements in Pristina have been systematically fostering an environment where attacks on anything Serbian are deemed acceptable."
Djuric added that he does not want to share specifics without consulting security agencies to avoid exacerbating the situation. However, he confirmed that security measures have been heightened at several Serbian diplomatic missions across Europe as of Tuesday morning.
