Ivan Radak, editor of Forbes Serbia, asked representatives of Cambodia and Senegal whether they were aware that some of the facilities planned for EXPO 2027 might be used without final occupancy permits, and whether that raised concerns about the safety of their staff.
After the question, the event organizer asked Radak not to raise the issue again.
He said he was told that foreign guests were uncomfortable with the question and might cancel their appearances, and that they were not the right people to address the issue.
Radak was offered a chance to ask the director of the company EXPO 2027, Danilo Jerinic, that same question, but he declined because Jerinic had already answered the question the previous day.
Radak later posed the same question to delegates from other countries. Of the eight countries scheduled to hold short press briefings, seven appeared, while no explanation was given for the absence of the eighth delegation.
Danilo Jerinic, Director of the company EXPO 2027, said on Wednesday that the safety of visitors to the EXPO 2027 specialized exhibition is the top priority.
“The issuance of permits for facilities within the EXPO complex is regulated by a special law that sets out the procedures for approving the use of buildings necessary for the successful organization of EXPO 2027,” Jerinic told the Beta news agency.
