A small group of foreign nationals gathered in front of the Belgrade Waterfront project headquarters to protest bad working conditions and demand back pay, the masina.rs portal reported.
The group of some 20 workers carried banners in several languages demanding their rights and saying that they had not been paid in three months. Their superiors tried to convince them to end the protest while several police officers stood by, the portal said.
Masina.rs quoted staff at the Belgrade Waterfront company as saying that the companies engaged on the project were paid on time as agreed but refused to specify the companies. The portal recalled that foreign workers engaged on the Belgrade waterfront project staged protests earlier over unpaid salaries and bad working conditions.
