Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali told a human rights conference that Belgrade has to show that it is open and opposed to discrimination.

“I am here to show support and say that Belgrade and Serbia are open,” Mali, a former Mayor of the Serbian capital, told the conference which is part of EuroPride week.

He said that as Mayor he felt that things had to change after several years without a parade. “I really wanted to show a different image of Belgrade with lots of energy, positive vibrations and I think that was a turning point,” he added. “It was a public event and we directed the ship we call Serbia in the right direction,” Mali said.

According to him, all people are equal and are entitled to different views but have to respect each other.
