Former employees of the agricultural industrial company PIK Zemun staged a protest outside Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s office on Friday morning, demanding their severance pay promised to them 18 years ago.

According to them, 254 workers were laid off in 2005 at which time they were told they would receive severance pay, that is, 50 ares of arable land each, which has not happened to this day.

Former PIK Zemun employees also protested in front of the Serbian Government building at end of June, but their demands were ignored.

As they told N1 at the time, the information they received from the Ministry of Economy was that they “would get nothing” because those were the orders of “someone from the top.”
