Former senior SNS official urges members, officials to quit the party

Former deputy president of the Kragujevac City Assembly and senior official of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Zoran Mladenovic called on his former party colleagues to immediately resign from their positions and quit the party.
“I urge SNS members to leave the party because it fosters, justifies, and incites violence! On January 16, 2025, we witnessed Serbia in two acts. The first, in a Kragujevac central square, where the SNS elite, including councilors, directors, chiefs, and other officials, promoted, promised, and praised everything they had failed to accomplish over the past 12 years. The second, in Belgrade, on a sidewalk, during a peaceful student protest and gathering, when an ‘irresponsible’ citizen, initiated and encouraged by the statements of the highest state officials, deliberately hit a young woman with his car!” Mladenovic wrote in an open letter to the ruling party members in Kragujevac.
He called on SNS members to take the right step, as justice and dignity belong to every individual.
“Anyone not blinded by politics can see that a line has been crossed. At the gathering in Kragujevac, there were, I hope, honorable and honest people. I call on them to resign from the SNS and from their positions. It’s not difficult, I know that first hand. I did it for far lesser reasons. Do it because there is no position, chair, or privilege that can compare to the feeling of free thought, justice, and dignity that every person carries within. Believe me, those are the best feelings. But they are also every person’s responsibility,” Mladenovic wrote in his open letter to SNS members.
Mladenovic, one of the founders of SNS in Kragujevac, quit the ruling party and resigned from all positions in the party and in the city.
