Four more arrests over Novi Sad Railway Station tragedy

Four people were arrested on Monday in connection with the Novi Sad Railway Station disaster which claimed 15 lives.
Nenad Stefanovic, chief prosecutor at the Higher Public Prosecution in Belgrade, told a news conference that a manager at Serbian Railways Infrastructure and 3 members of a technical commission were arrested on orders from that Prosecution’s Special Anti-Corruption Department.
Stefanovic said they were suspected of failing to inspect the work done during the reconstruction of the railway station, adding that those inspections would have allowed them to identify shortcomings which led to the collapse of a concrete awning.
He said the Special Anti-Corruption Department was acting independently of the Higher Public Prosecution in Novi Sad and of a preliminary investigation by the Public Prosecution for Organized Crime. The Novi Sad Higher Public Prosecution filed an indictment against 13 people over the tragedy. He explained that the crimes the 4 people are suspected of were committed in Belgrade.
