Freedom House analyst concerned over violence

She told the VOA that the the Serbian authorities keep repeating the same model of excessive use of force against protests, adding that she thinks the demands made by the protests are justified. She added that there are more and more clashes between protesters and the police which is cause for concern. According to her, that is a warning sign in terms of democracy in Serbia.

Karrpi said that the ruling party keeps using early elections as a way to deal with crisis situations with no indication that election conditions have changed.

She said that Serbia has a vibrant civil society that is under increasing pressure.
