German ambassador calls Pristina to form CSM

The ambassador told Pristina-based KTV that Pristina has to take tangible steps because the CoE attaches special importance to minority rights, the Beta news agency said.

According to Rohde, setting up the CSM is the best way for Kosovo to show that it is committed to minority rights. He said that Germany is very interested in seeing Kosovo become a CoE member, recalling that the CoE Committee of Ministers will vote on the issue in mid-May.

He added that the European Union should start lifting the measures it imposed on Kosovo following the referendum on the ethnic Albanian mayors of northern majority-Serb municipalities. Rohde said the Serb List call for a boycott of the referendum was a catastrophe, adding that the current situation is not good for anyone.
