German national television ARD on protests in Serbia: "Taking part in demonstrations is becoming dangerous – how long will the EU remain silent?"

What began as a protest against corruption in Serbia has in the meantime grown into a broad civic uprising across the entire country. There are more and more protests against Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, and he is becoming increasingly authoritarian. In a country that is a candidate for EU membership, participation in protests is becoming dangerous.

A few weeks ago, security forces literally beat numerous demonstrators, but the protests continue and have been going on for several months now. This evening, yet another protest is taking place – this time in Novi Sad, a city in the north of the country – precisely where the collapse of the main railway station canopy, with numerous human casualties, sparked a wave of protests that still continue today, reports German broadcaster ARD.
